Discover

Râşnov (Rosenau) Citadel is one of the best preserved medieval citadels in Transylvania, strategically positioned on the south hill of Râşnov. Mentioned for the first time in a document at the beginning of the 14th century, Râşnov citadel held out against many Ottoman raids due to its massiveness and position, thus earning the citadel its reputation as difficult to conquer.

Without a well-defined style the fortress preserved its hundreds year old structures up to the present thus becoming a beautiful attraction. Inside you can visit a medieval art museum where you can admire weapons, tools, medieval furniture but also torture instruments.

You can also try archery, photograph yourself in medieval garments or enjoy one of the historical films shown here during the Historical Film Festival which takes place each summer. Other things to enjoy here in the summer are various concerts and book festivals.
