Maramureş Village Museum
The Maramueş Village Museum is located at the outskirts of Sighetu Marmaţiei village. There are French and English guided tours but you have to make an appointment at least 48 hours in advance.

The open air museum is a traditional village from Maramureş with over 30 houses dating back to the 17-19th centuries with both houses and their annexes being built out of wood.
The households are grouped under different regions like Mara-Cosău, Iza, Vişeu-Borsa etc.
Visiting this place is like going back in time when wood was the main construction element in Maramureş.
Did you know?
One of the houses which dates from 1611 was built from a single oak trunk.
Both the indoors and outdoors of the households and their annexes are in good conditions.
