Ponicova Cave or the Bats Cave is found in the Iron Gates Natural Park, deep in the Ciucaru Mare Massif. It is the largest cave from the Danube Gorge.
It is formed out of several galleries with a total length of 1 660 m, with the main gallery being 400 m long. The most spectacular part is the Columns Chamber where many stalactites, stalagmites and columns adorn the chamber. Two large openings illuminate the cave so much which emphasizes its greatness.
