Built in 1502 in the Moldavian style by boierul Luca Arbore, Arbore Church is dedicated to the beheading of St. John the Baptist.
Modest in size, the church stands out with its fascinating exterior and interior frescoes.
Along with its age, the beauty and uniqueness of the frescoes made it possible to include it on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Besides the old icons, inside the church you can also admire the tomb of Luca Arbore, considered one of the most valuable Gothic funerary monuments in Bukovina.

Luca Arbore, the founder of the church, was executed shortly after the church was erected, on the order of the Prince Stefăniţă.
The “Beheading of St. John the Baptist” church is included along with seven other churches from Bukovina (Moldoviţa, Suceviţa, Arbore, Humor, Probota, Pătrăuţi, St John the New Monastery in Suceava) on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
