Enjoy the magnificent nature of Bukovina and go hiking on the paths of Rarău. Visit the oases of spirituality, art and culture: the nearby monasteries such as Voroneț and Moldovița.

The Story House Museum Guesthouse in Câmpulung Moldovenesc will transport you to the 19th century Bukovina with its superb collection of old wooden houses. These were purchased from locals and relocated with care and skill on an area of over two hectares.
The wooden exterior of the houses has been completely preserved, each house representing a type of traditional wooden house, specific to the region.

The traditional houses were furnished with decorations and old furniture, these too saved from local households and thoroughly refurbished. You will be able to admire the guest rooms carpets, tapestries, paintings, lamps, sewing machines and many household items.

The Story House can accommodate 32 persons, in 16 rooms (with double and twin beds) distributed in five houses.

The Big House has five double rooms upstairs. As the name suggests, it is the largest wooden house in the area. Built in the second half of the 19th century in the Moldavian Valley, it belonged to a family of boyars. On the ground floor you will find a generous living area that currently houses the restaurant, bar and lounge area.

Empire House with three rooms on the ground floor and a living area / upstairs room. This is the last house to join the collection and dates back to the early 20th century. Built after the Austrian model and decorated in an elegant, imperial style, it amazes with the view of Rarău Massif which can be admired from the large roof glass panel.

The Little House has two double rooms, one on the ground floor and one upstairs. Also built in the second half of the 19th century, it stands out with its traditional roof with drainage and wide porch. This is the traditional Bukovinian family house.

The Lake House has two double rooms, one on the ground floor and one upstairs. It’s a house built around 1900 with a generous porch, with white walls, chic, belonging to a wealthier family.

The Old House has four rooms, two rooms on the ground floor, two upstairs, plus a children’s playroom in the attic especially designed by the hosts. Estimated to be built around 1820, it is the oldest one in the museum gueshouse. It impresses with its whitewashed walls that alternate with wood panels. Vintage wood furniture decorates the rooms of the Old House.

Although the houses are real open-air museum pieces, they do not lack the modern comfort, discreetly inserted in the story of each house. The traditional houses are fully equipped (WiFi, TV, private bathroom with underfloor heating, etc.).

Also nearby are the spectacular Gorges such as Moara Dracului and Zugreni, and the secular forest Slătioara located 13 km away.

If you cross the Transrarăul (it connects the villages of Chiril and Pojorâta and has 28 km), on the way you can visit the Rarău Monastery, founded in 1538 by Petru Rareș.

Moldovița and Voroneț Monasteries are a 30-minute drive away, and try to wander a bit on the streets of the Ciocănești Museum Village so that you can fully admire the houses painted with motifs inspired by the folk costumes.
