One of Suceava’s symbols is without a doubt the Princely Fortress. Its fate is entwined with the glorious period of Medieval Moldova during the reigns of Petru I Muşat and especially during the reign of Stephen the Great (Prince Stefan cel Mare).

The remarkable citadel impresses the tourists from all over the world with its special features which show how life was during the Middle Ages. The most impressive features are the fortifications, the solid bridge, Treasury Chamber, Voivodes Hall, the Weapons’ Chamber and the Mint.

The Princely Fortress remains a major attraction of Suceava even after the night falls when no less than 16 videos projected on the fortress walls depict medieval battle scenes. The fortress hosts some of the most well-known cultural and artistic events like the Medieval Festival which takes place in mid-August.

If you are in Suceava, you must also visit the Bukovina Museum which can be found near the fortress.
