The Râşca Monastery is located in Râşca,  Suceava county.

The Râşca Monastery was built in 1542 by Petru Rareş, in the land of the hermitages, when secular oak forests still existed in this area.

The church, modest in size, has impressive special iconography.

The ensemble includes the belfry, the cells and the surrounding wall which date back to the 17th century.

If you are in the area don’t forget to visit the old church “Mitropolia pe stil vechi” and the Village Museum “Voievod Petru Rareş”.

Did you know?

The Râşca church is different from the rest of the painted churches in Moldova as it’s the only one painted in the Byzantine style.
