Discover

The great building was erected in the Eclectic style at the beginning of the 20th century and is one of the symbolic buildings of the Unirii Square. The building has an imposing façade which is rich in various decorative elements like balconies, columns and arches and its famous clock tower.

With a height of 50 m the tower is the highest point in the city.  If you can manage the 230 steps up the top of the tower, you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the city.

The City Hall also hosts a museum where you can admire illustrations of the city and exhibitions with both new and old pieces, specific to the activities of firefighters.

Did you know?

In the past the clock tower was used as the fire lookout tower of the town. If there was a fire, the bell would ring a certain number of times,  each depending on the area where the fire started.

Conservation facts

Since it is relatively new (built between 1902-1903) and belonging to the City Hall, the state of preservation of the tower is good.
