Peony Hill Nature Reserve

Info

The Peony Hill Nature Reserve is located in the territory of Ciucurova, Tulcea County, near DN22D National Road, which connects Horia and Slava Cercheza.

Discover

One of the least known beauties of Dobrogea is the Peony Hill Nature Reserve from Babadag Plateau.

As the name suggests, this area preserves the peony, a rare and endangered species.

This unique beauty is located on the southern part of the hill, filling the meadows and clearings.

In the reserve, you can admire other sub-Mediterranean species. The area doesn’t have a tradition in tourism but it’s perfect for cyclotourism and hiking with lovely sceneries to accompany you along the way.

Did you know?

The Romanian peony is found only in Dobrogea and its existence hasn’t been reported anywhere else in the world.
